Some days, it may seem like all the decks are stacked against us… Housing is scarce or non existent, finances, food prices, etc… BUT, here is an easy way we can all get involved and make a real difference for housing!

The federal barrier free code (which NB adopted in 2023) has sections up for review. This could mean an amendment or change of some sort to a part of the current code.

No, you do not need to read the code! You do not need to become a code specialist… You just need to go to the website I am about to provide 3 times ( 1 for each code adaptation)…and check it off.

That’s it.

Developers are going in large numbers trying to argue against changes that create more accessibility- we need to stop this, we need to fight for our rights!

Just following up quickly on the immediate-term stuff from our discussion:

  • There are some proposed changes out for public review (now, and appearing in the May/June review period) that should address some of the main points that you brought up today with application to houses.
  • ****This is what we need you to do******
