Higgs & Fitch at NBCPD Coffee Chat!

It started with a letter we weren't even sure would be read, in which we challenged the Premier to accept our invitation to speak at our weekly Coffee Chat, in an attempt to explain to our members how they are supposed to live on. $832.00. Much to our surprise and delight, he excepted! And so on April 22nd, the Executive of the NBCPD and about 50 guests, sat and discussed of many hot button topics as they relate to people with disabilities in NB. Questions had been sent from the members ahead of time and in turn, Shelley Petit (Chair) and Murielle Pitre (Communications) asked the questions to the Premier and to special guest, Minister of Social Development, the Hon. Bruce Fitch. From employment & income to housing & transportation - everything was covered. There was not enough time for all the questions that were sent to the Executive (approximately 60) and so our guests were advised that that they would receive a document shortly after the even to cover all the other questions. We have not yet received responses on all the questions, but as soon as we do, we will share this information with the members!

All in all, after some technical problems at the very beginning, the session went very well and the NBCPD was pleased with the Premier's and the Minister's responses. Now we must keep a discussion going with them.
