Changes In The Coalition

Updated: Apr 10, 2021

Good Day Members! The past couple of weeks have been difficult ones at the NBCPD. But we are determined to keep going and keep advocating for YOU! We all know that when a large group of people work together, things can sometimes get difficult. But we always bear in mind the reasons behind our work. And that, of course, is that the Coalition strives to someday see a New Brunswick where all people – regardless of disability visible or invisible – will be able to participate fully as citizens who are equal in all the ways imaginable!

This would include, but not be limited to, our three pillars: Income & Access to Employment Transportation (rural and urban) Accessible, Affordable & Sustainable Housing In the weeks and months to come, you will be hearing a lot more about these 3 priorities, as this is what we will be concentrating on. You will be hearing from us, as we reach out to increase the number of Board members to help us reach our goals! Unfortunately, Brent McPherson has stepped down from being the Chairperson of the NBCPD. We hope that you will join us in thanking Brent for all the hard work he has poured into the Coalition. He was a devoted member and officer of the NBCPD, and we will miss his quick wit and political expertise! Now, however, the show must go on! And we are happy to advise that the Board has chosen a new Chairperson for the Coalition (until next year's AGM) in the person of Shelley Petit! Shelley joined us just a few short months ago as Secretary and has contributed so much during her short time with us! Shelley loves people, and loves helping them. A career schoolteacher, Shelley not only loves to share her knowledge with people, but she loves to listen to them as well. She has many contacts, and we are convinced that she will be a great and resourceful chairperson for the Coalition. Please join us in welcoming Shelley into her new role! Appointing Shelley to Chair required a bit of shuffling on our part. Formerly Vice-Chair, Murielle Pitre preferred not to take on the role of Chairperson, however wanted to remain Director of Communications. This position pairs well with Secretary, and so Murielle has moved to the Secretary role. In steps Roger Lewis as Vice-Chair. Sylvie Roy remains in the role of Treasurer; with April Levesque offering to assist her as needed. The officers on the Board now read as follows: Shelley Petit – Chair Roger Lewis - Vice-Chair Murielle Pitre – Secretary & Director of Communications Sylvie Roy – Treasurer The General Board: Jakki Petricca - Child and Youth Kaitlyn Layden- Social Media April Levesque Shawn Nowlan

Cass Maz On behalf of the Board, let me tell you how much we look forward to advocating for all of you! We have many exciting projects in store for you, and we hope that you will take full advantage of all of them. Thanks and feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns! Respectfully; The Board of the NBCPD
