Finally, Some Good News for Disabled Travelers Using Power Wheelchairs
The Canadian Transportation Agency has told WestJet to scrap its 300-pound weight cap on mobility aids before July 2027. This is welcome news for many travelers who know that, in fact, most power wheelchairs weigh far more than 300 pounds. Many of these chairs have two motors and two batteries. That alone carries a lot of weight. Such a chair can be much closer to 500 pounds than 300. For exemple, the weight of a Permobil F3 Corpus, including the two batteries, can be between 172 kg (379 lb) and 185.6 kg (409 lb), depending on the type of batteries.
