National Housing Day- Focus is Disability and Housing
Friday, Nov 22 9am-1pm ATS
This year, our focus will be on the critical intersection of disability and housing. As you may know, people with disabilities encounter significant barriers when it comes to housing, however, disability is often missing from the housing conversation. This is a problem as more than 35% of people living in New Brunswick have a disability and the housing crisis continues. Therefore, the 2024 housing day will bring together people with lived experience of disability, advocates, non-profit organizations, and policy makers. Together, we will have an open and productive exchange about how housing interventions in a time of crisis can and must include the needs of people with disabilities.

What The Food?
November 27th, 1 to 2:30 ATS
Chair of NBCPD Shelley Petit and Murielle Pitre (Communications) will be presenting on food insecurity in persons with disabilities. We will be presenting in French- however, there will be simultaneous translation- and our goal is to have a translated PPT as well to be shared in the chat.
Food security, food systems, food sovereignty, food justice – with so many terms related to food, it can be challenging to keep up! Food For All NB is here to help!
Also in this 9th episode of our “What the Food?!” webinar series, we hear from Dana Milne, Campaigner at Community Food Centers Canada, on the intersections of disability, poverty, and food insecurity.

Justice4Reel Film Festival
December 10th to December 18th
The John Humphrey Centre & Migrante Alberta are excited to host the Justice4Reel Film Festival to amplify discourse & action on human rights. All tickets are free.
With their partners Migrante Alberta, the John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights (JHC) are thrilled to once again present the Justice4Reel Film Festival, a week-long cinematic journey to take place online and in-person.
Through a carefully curated collection of films from across the globe, audiences are invited to engage with stories of struggle, resistance, and resilience and that focus primarily on the challenges faced by marginalized communities.
